I woke up a bit earlier this morning so I could go take the Tomos for a spin. Before it started snowing. She ran okay this morning. Started on the second kick, and gave me no problems. It’s SLOOOOW, idk if it’s just because it’s only 49cc, or that it was 27 degrees this morning, or that theres something wrong with the engine, or carb. But if I can’t get it faster with stock parts I see a carb, tune pipe, and maybe 80cc kit in its future. One of the bigger issues, the sticky rear brake seems to have fixed itself. I think it just needed to be used. I did a few full stops just using the rear and it didn’t lock up at all.
Unfortunately the speedometer stopped working which is a bummer. I think I’m going to take out the factory speedo and make a tray with a strap to hold my phone inside the factory gauge pod. Then just use a speedo app.
Also non of the lights work. At all. So I’ll have to figure that out. In the mean time I ordered some cheap LES blinkers, since 2 of mine are broken and the bulbs might need to be replaced anyway.

It’s unfortunately not abnormal for 49ccs like these to be hella slow. I’ve heard some Tomos people even pedal to help the engine get moving. lol But definitely make sure it’s in top shape first! :)

Mine doesn’t have pedals. But they would be helpful. Lol

When I rented a 49cc two-stroke scooter last summer, it topped out at 29mph. Is the tomos also a two-stroke?

It is a 2 stroke. I wouldn’t want a 4 stock 49cc.

I agree. You get twice as many explosions with a two stroke. My scooter is a 4 stroke, but it's also 125cc so it can get up to about 50mph.
